Internship Opportunities

Queen鈥檚 and it鈥檚 partners offer many opportunities for internships, practicum placements, clinical placements, and work experience. Some opportunities are part of your program, so please contact the Graduate Coordinator of your academic program to investigate these opportunities further.

Mitacs is a national, not-for-profit organization that delivers unique research and training programs across Canada. In partnership with companies, government, and academia, Mitacs is supporting a new economy using Canada鈥檚 most valuable resource 鈥 its people.


is Canada鈥檚 premier research internship program for all disciplines. Interns broaden their impact by connecting with private-sector organizations and applying their skills to new challenges.

  • Each four-month internship provides a $10,000 minimum intern stipend/salary and up to $5,000 for project expenses
  • Graduate students and postdoctoral fellows are eligible
  • Projects range in duration from four months to multi-year, multi-disciplinary collaborations

Canadian Science Policy Fellowship

Faculty members and PhD holders interested in the policy-making process can participate in a 12-month fellowship through the program that embeds them within government offices. Fellows gain professional policy experience and can become leading policy voices in Canada鈥檚 academic community

The program supports the training and mentoring of teams of highly qualified students and postdoctoral fellows from Canada and abroad through the development of innovative training programs that:

  • Encourage collaborative and integrative approaches, and address significant scientific challenges associated with Canada鈥檚 research priorities
  • Facilitate the transition of new researchers from trainees to productive employees in the Canadian workforce

A collaboration between Queen鈥檚 Career Services and the SGSPA, the QDIUA program provides a unique opportunity for PhD candidates to learn more about the university administrative environment through an internship with an administrative unit at Queen鈥檚 University. During the program, doctoral students will strengthen and expand their professional skills by working alongside experienced administrators outside of their academic programs. Through a combination of mentoring and participation in meaningful projects and tasks, interns will contribute to the day-to-day operations of the University while expanding their professional network and exploring careers in academic administration.

Teaching at T眉bingen - The University of T眉bingen鈥檚 Institutional Strategy provides financial support for expanding the number of courses it offers in English and for promoting the teaching competence of post-doctoral fellows or of PhD students who are at an advanced stage of their studies. This call for applications is especially focused on our strategic partner universities in the Matariki Network of Universities (MNU). We welcome applications from MNU advanced PhD students or post-doctoral fellows who would like to expand their teaching experience while simultaneously expanding their research horizons with a working stay in Germany under the Teach-at-T眉bingen (T@T) Program.
