Future Undergraduate Students

Application Required

At 成人大片, we recognize a university education is a major financial undertaking. All Queen's students share the ability to excel academically, but many may not be able to fully finance their university education. 成人大片 is here to help you achieve that goal, not just now, but throughout your undergraduate studies.

Students entering the Faculty of Law, School of Medicine, Consecutive Education, or other graduate programs are not eligible for the awards listed in this section.

As a future Queen鈥檚 student, you have lots of options for financial aid, including options available to current students and options that do not require an application.

Financial Aid & Awards Profile

Through the Financial Aid & Awards Profile, you will be considered for Admission Bursaries, Major Access Awards, Commitment Bursary, Donor-funded awards and bursaries, and the Promise Scholar program.

Major Admission Awards

Awards for students demonstrating superior academic ability, creative and original thinking, involvement in school/community activities, leadership qualities, and financial need that you can apply for through a single major admission award application.

Awards Requiring Individual Applications

Awards are based on a number of criteria, including academic achievement, that you can apply for through a single admission awards application.

Awards with Separate Applications

Some awards may have additional eligibility requirements. Review the specific details for each award program to determine eligibility.

To be eligible for most admission awards you must be:

  • Entering the first year of post-secondary education for the first time in a full-time (minimum 60% course load) Queen's undergraduate degree program on Queen's campus or at Bader College (graduates from a 2-year CEGEP program transferring into their first year of a Queen's program remain eligible for grades-based admission scholarships)
  • Students with prior post-secondary education are not eligible for Queen's admission awards
  • Domestic (Canadian citizens, permanent residents) and international students (including U.S. students) will be considered for automatic grade-based admission scholarships
  • International and U.S. students should also visit the International and U.S. Students section for more information on additional admission awards
  • Queen's will calculate an awards average based on grades available at the time you are offered admission
    • Final grades will be assessed for scholarship and award consideration for those students who accept their offer of admission to Queen's
    • If you do not receive a scholarship offer at the time you were offered admission, we will review your final grades after we have received final grade reports from the Ontario Universities' Application Centre in July/August
    • Summer courses taken in the summer immediately prior to your admit term to the university will not be used in the assessment of your final grade average

Note: To receive and remain eligible to retain an admission scholarship/award in the academic year granted, the student must be admitted and registered as a full-time student in the fall/winter academic year.

If you have been granted a renewable academic based award, to remain eligible for renewal of the award you are expected to:

  • Remain registered in an 80% course load (typically 24 units in fall/winter)
  • Achieve a minimum GPA of 3.5

Please note that not all academic based awards are renewable, refer to the award terms on SOLUS or in the award descriptions throughout this website to confirm if your Queen鈥檚 award is renewable. Review the Queen鈥檚 Renewable Awards Policy for further details.

Note: The academic guideline listed for the major admission awards is not based on the awards average as outlined above.
