In February 2025, Queen’s University launched QUAlerts, an emergency notification system designed to keep students, faculty, and staff informed during urgent situations. The system offers the following features:

• Automatic Email Notifications: All Queen’s community members in Kingston with an active Queen’s email account will automatically receive QUAlerts by email.
   
• Users can also in addition to email. Doing so will automatically send a text message to your smartphone in the event of an emergency. Users can also register additional phone numbers to receive alerts (including parents and family members).
   
• Customize Your Alerts: To ensure you never miss an important message, download the Alertable app. With the app, you can:
  • Override silent mode so alerts are heard even when your phone is muted.
  • Choose to receive alerts in multiple languages.
  • Personalize how and what types of alerts you receive. 
     

QUAlerts does not store any personal data. The system only uses a distribution list that is updated daily and securely retained in Canada.
