Queen鈥檚 United Way campaign tops $500,000 for first time

Queen鈥檚 University鈥檚 annual campaign for the United Way of Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington has raised more than $500,000, setting a new record for the university and local workplace campaigns, and surpassing the fundraising goal of $475,000.
鈥淭he continued support for the United Way from the Queen鈥檚 community is amazing, and a special thanks goes out to those joining the campaign for the first time,鈥 says James Ligthart, chair of the Queen's United Way Committee. 鈥淭hrough these combined efforts, at a time of increasing financial adversity for many, to set a new record, with more than $500,000, is heartwarming.鈥
Community impact
Funds raised through the campaign support programs and services reaching more than 68,000 individuals across the region. The United Way KFL&A works with local partners to address critical needs such as food security, mental health and addiction support, and homelessness.
The overall campaign also set a record, raising $4.15 million.
鈥淭hese funds will make an important difference for people in Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington by providing essential resources to those who need them,鈥 says Principal and Vice-Chancellor Patrick Deane, who also serves on the United Way KFL&A campaign cabinet. 鈥淭hrough these contributions, volunteer efforts, and support work, the Queen鈥檚 community continues to exemplify its strong commitment to compassion and service.鈥
