Queen’s remembers Sheila Hutchison

The Queen’s community is remembering Sheila Hutchison, who passed away on March 22 in Kingston at the age of 63, surrounded by her loving family.
Sheila dedicated over 30 years of service to the university, including the past 21 years with Career Services in Student Affairs, where she served as administrator of the student Summer Work Experience Program (SWEP) and the Work Study program. In this role, she built strong connections across campus and made a lasting impact on countless students, staff, and faculty. Her commitment to helping students access meaningful employment opportunities was unwavering throughout her career. Sheila will be remembered as a warm, compassionate, and candid colleague. Her loss is deeply felt by the entire Career Services team, and the broader Queen’s community.
A celebration of life will be held at James Reid Funeral Home on April 2 from 2–4 pm. In recognition of Sheila’s significant contributions, the Queen’s flag on campus will be lowered to half-mast on April 2.
