Queen’s University has placed seventh out of 15 universities in the medical-doctoral category for the 2026 rankings of Canadian universities by ²Ñ²¹³¦±ô±ð²¹²Ô’s magazine, maintaining its position from last year’s list.
The medical-doctoral category features universities with a medical school as well as a broad range of PhD programs and research. The magazine’s two other broad rankings categories are comprehensive universities and primarily undergraduate universities.
²Ñ²¹³¦±ô±ð²¹²Ô’s ranks institutions on 12 performance indicators in five broad areas: students, faculty, resources, student support, and reputation. Queen’s best results were in the measurements of Student Awards (5), Faculty Awards (5), Scholarships and Bursaries (5), Social Sciences and Humanities Grants (6), and Library Expenses (5).
National Reputational Survey
As part of the rankings, ²Ñ²¹³¦±ô±ð²¹²Ô’s looks at the national reputation of each university, surveying faculty, senior administrators, and a variety of employers for their views on Canadian universities and their graduates. Queen’s placed sixth out of 50 universities in the survey.
Standout programs
²Ñ²¹³¦±ô±ð²¹²Ô’s also compiles unranked lists of standout programs in several different fields based on research conducted by a team of journalists. Several Queen’s programs made these lists, including the Bachelor of applied science in engineering, Bachelor of commerce, Bachelor of education, and Bachelor of nursing science programs.
