Nominations for the 2025 Special Recognition for Staff Awards are now being accepted. The awards recognize staff who consistently provide outstanding contributions, both directly or indirectly, to the learning and working environment at Queen's at a level significantly beyond what is usually expected. Nominations can be submitted by anyone, including students, staff, faculty, and alumni.

“Each year, the Special Recognition for Staff Awards provide us with an opportunity to celebrate the exceptional dedication and impact of our staff,” says Lisa Walsh, Associate Vice-Principal, Human Resources. “These awards reflect how much we value the people who make Queen’s such a vibrant and supportive community. I encourage everyone to join us in celebrating excellence by nominating those staff members who make meaningful and significant contributions to our learning and working environment.”

Nominations for the awards will be open until Dec. 19, 2025. All forms and instructions are available on the . Those interested in submitting a nomination that do not have access to the HR Intranet can email avphr@queensu.ca to request copies of the forms and instructions. 

Last year, the awards were expanded to recognize up to eight individuals and two teams, ensuring that even more staff contributions across the university are celebrated. The Special Recognition for Staff Awards continue to serve as an important act of appreciation for the significant contributions that staff make in supporting the university’s academic mission and culture.
