What is Art Conservation?

Stories from Our Alumni

Welcome to the Department of Art History & Art Conservation

The Department of Art History and Art Conservation is the place at Queen’s to explore and understand our visual world--past, present, and future. With a diverse array of distinguished scholars in global arts, architecture, museum studies, and material culture, we are a vibrant and inclusive community committed to fostering innovative, rigorous, and socially-engaged learning, creativity, and research.

Our students are immersed in transformative experiences that extend beyond the classroom, whether they're participating in intimate seminars, engaging with cutting-edge research technology, or unique internship opportunities like our course at the Venice Biennale. Through our academic programs in Art History, Studio Art, and Art Conservation - including Canada's only graduate program in Art Conservation - we prepare the next generation of leaders to shape the future of the arts and cultural sector, and beyond.

Visit our comprehensive range of academic programs, including undergraduate (BA) and graduate (MA and PhD) degrees in Art History, a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Visual Art, and in Art Conservation (MAC).
