Current leadership volunteer opportunities in Calgary and London, UK

 

Co-President

Co-leads the rebuild and long-term sustainability of the branch by setting direction, recruiting and leading volunteers, delivering events, and strengthening alumni engagement and philanthropy. See full description.


Communications and Marketing Lead

Owns the branch鈥檚 communications and promotional presence鈥攕ocial media, messaging, and event promotion鈥攕o alumni stay informed, engaged, and connected in a way that aligns with Queen鈥檚 brand. See full description.


Volunteer and Operations Lead

Strengthens the branch鈥檚 day-to-day functionality by recruiting/onboarding and recognizing volunteers, coordinating operational logistics, supporting governance continuity, and tracking light engagement data. See full description.


Philanthropy and Partnerships Lead

Builds local partnerships and integrates philanthropy into branch activities, including leading philanthropy/partnership-aligned events and helping identify alumni who may want deeper engagement or giving opportunities. See full description.


Young and Recent Alumni Engagement Lead

Focuses on building connection and momentum among alumni in the early stages of their post-graduation journey and supports the branch strategy by planning frameworks. See full description.

How does the application process work?

Applications open January 29, 2026, and close February 19, 2026. Once you submit your application, it will be reviewed by Queen鈥檚 Advancement staff in collaboration with volunteer branch leadership, designated QUAA Board members, and faculty representatives where applicable, using consistent evaluation criteria. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted with the next steps. Due to the volume of applications, not all applicants will be invited to interview. However, Queen鈥檚 Advancement staff will follow up with each candidate to discuss other opportunities to engage with the Alumni Branch and the broader Queen鈥檚 alumni community.

Please note that applicants should have a meaningful connection to the local alumni community and be able to participate in local branch activities.

Who is involved in the process?

Interviews are conducted virtually and are led by Queen鈥檚 Advancement staff in partnership with volunteer branch leadership, designated QUAA Board members, and designated faculty representatives where applicable. Interviews focus on collaboration, relevant experience, and alignment with the goals of the Alumni Branch and the specific volunteer role, using consistent evaluation criteria.

Do I need prior alumni or volunteer leadership experience?

Previous volunteer or leadership experience is an asset but not required. We welcome applications from alumni with a range of backgrounds and experiences.

When do volunteer roles begin?

Volunteer roles typically begin following the completion of the selection process, with onboarding and orientation provided before volunteers assume their responsibilities.

Time commitments vary by role and throughout the year, with increased activity around event planning and delivery. Estimated monthly commitments are outlined in each role description.

All volunteer leaders are supported by Queen鈥檚 Advancement staff through training, tools, and ongoing partnership.

Will I hear back if I am not selected?

Yes. All applicants will hear from us. Candidates will be contacted to let them know whether they are moving forward in the process. For those not selected for a specific role, we look forward to connecting about other ways to engage with the Alumni Branch and the broader Queen鈥檚 alumni community.
