Lisa Webb stands with her goats on her farm, surrounded by green pastures and a clear sky.

Lisa obtained degrees in psychology, social work and then completed a Masters of Public Administration at Queen’s while working as a Student Advisor/Program Planner at the Ban Righ Centre. For 22 years she was inspired by the strength, courage, resourcefulness, generosity and determination of the female students who used the Centre while they pursued their degrees together in community. They motivated her to think about issues around food security, housing and the importance of community, connectedness and belonging.

Feeling privileged to belong to a vibrant rural community and to live on land that provided rich opportunities for food, recreation, appreciation of and respect for the natural environment, she began to think about the potential for rural ‘landowners’ to share their good fortune with others. This developed into the Good Neighbour Land-Sharing initiative which is taking a deep dive into the possibilities, barriers and challenges for those living on rural land to provide opportunities that make it feasible for others to do the same on the same land; opportunities to live, grow food, earn a living and participate in a rural community.
