Friday October 4, 2024This year鈥檚 McDonald Stewart Lecture on the Art of Venice, organized by the Department of Art History and Art Conservation, is titled 鈥淭he Life and Times of the Canada Pavilion in Venice,鈥 presented by Jos茅e Drouin-Brisebois, the Producer and Senior Manager of National Outreach at the . The evening will begin with a reception at 5:30 PM in the Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts, followed by the lecture and discussion from 6:00 to 7:30 PM in the Isabel鈥檚 Screening Room.
The , the world鈥檚 premier international exhibition of contemporary art, boasts a rich history that dates back to the late nineteenth century. The Canada Pavilion, designed in 1957 by Milan鈥檚 Studio BBPR, is a significant example of Italian modernism and holds a special heritage designation.
