Name: Autumn Mcklusky

Policy Interests: I am interested in foreign policy, international relations, defence and security policy. 

#1 Goal in your Role on the Student Executive this Year: My #1 goal is to plan inclusive, engaging socials that help students connect beyond the classroom, while also creating opportunities to give back through charitable initiatives in the Kingston community on behalf of the School of Policy Studies.

Favourite T.V. Show: My favourite TV show is Gilmore Girls. 

Dream Vacation Destination: Antarctica would for sure be my dream vacation. I would love to see some penguins and make it to all 7 continents!

Policy Interests: I’m interested in social policy, especially how it can be used to promote equity and inclusion. I’m passionate about understanding how policies can create meaningful social change.

#1 Goal in your Role on the Student Executive this Year: My number one goal is to ensure the Queen’s Policy Review continues to be an avenue to showcase diverse student talents and interests!

Dream Vacation Destination: I would love to go to Copenhagen!

Policy Interests: Employment, education and intergovernmental policy.

#1 Goal in your Role on the Student Executive this Year: Allie and I hope to spark meaningful dialogue through a comprehensive publication reflective of the cohorts interests this year. We are excited to expand QPR for the next generations of MPA students!

Dream Vacation Destination: I would love to go to France! I’d like to not only visit the famous landmarks and museums in Paris, but simply sit by the French Riviera and listen to music.

Favourite T.V. Show: My favourite t.v. show would have to be Modern Family or New Girl (the comedy is unmatched).

Dream Vacation Destination: My dream vacation destination would have to be Japan. I would love to visit Super Nintendo World Japan.

#1 Goal in your Role on the Student Executive this Year: #1 goal in your role on the student executive this year. Beyond being the one in the room holding both the pen and purse strings, I value supporting my peers on the council (and in the cohort) and being a team player.

Dream Vacation Destination: Dubrovnik, Croatia. The combination of history, architecture, and clear blue water is all I need for a great vacation.

Society of Graduate and Professional Student (SGPS) MPA Liason: Valerie 

Name: Valerie Mendez

Policy Interests: Coming from a background in science, I am very interested in health policy. I feel it is quite applicable to current ongoing societal matters and I’m excited to merge my technical background with the MPA’s forward approach to policy implementation.

#1 Goal in your Role on the Student Executive this Year: There are so many resources frequently left unused by students paying tuition every single year. With it being our first year as a rarified club under the SGPS, I am excited to bring attention to those resources and act as an effective liaison between the two organizations.

Favourite T.V. Show: Currently, I’m hooked on Dancing with the Stars every Tuesday

Dream Vacation Destination: I would love to go to Hawaii. It’s the perfect mix between thrilling outdoorsy adventures and relaxing beachfront views.

Institute of Public Administration of Canada (IPAC-NCR) Queen’s Student Representatives: Alaina & Alysha 

Name: Alaina McCulloch

Policy Interests: I am primarily interested in public safety policy, including defence, national security, cybersecurity, and law enforcement. I am also looking forward to learning more about health policy, as well as social welfare throughout the program.

#1 Goal in your Role on the Student Executive this Year: As part of the IPAC student representative team, my primary goal is to connect the student body with the incredible learning and networking opportunities offered through IPAC National and IPAC National Capital Region.

Favourite T.V. Show: Oh goodness so many to choose from! What time of year is it? Gilmore Girls, Modern Family, and New Girl are definitely go-tos for me.

Dream Vacation Destination: Italy! Because I don’t think anyone could ever get tired of pasta (I certainly couldn’t).

Name: Alysha Ahmad

Policy Interests: My policy interests are in social policy and labour policy, particularly in the context of marginalized communities.

#1 Goal in your Role on the Student Executive this Year: I want to help students connect with the public service world through tangible means, by creating more chances for us to learn from professionals, build networks, and get inspired by real policy work in action.

Favourite T.V. Show: Game of Thrones (pre-seasons 7 & 8)

Dream Vacation Destination: I have so many but right now I’d have to say Turkey. I’d love to be able to dive into some family/religious history and for all the cats!
