German Club
Almost all students who take German at Queen鈥檚 are in their first year, many in their first semester, so the focus is less on speaking German, and more on experiencing elements of culture in German-speaking countries, and of having fun together.
In September, we have taken a sunset cruise to Wolfe Island 鈥 enjoying the new electric ferry, when it wasn鈥檛 out of service again! Germans are definitely sunseekers鈥 and with 5-6 weeks of paid vacations, they love to travel!
In October, we were off to Amadeus Caf茅 to celebrate Oktoberfest with delicious Schnitzel, Wurst (sausages), Sp盲tzle (noodles) and beer of course, for those who are of legal drinking age. Only 6 Munich breweries are allowed to brew the original Oktoberfest beer 鈥 and we can get it here in Kingston!
At the end of the Semester, we had some Kindergl眉hwein 鈥 alcohol-free mulled 鈥渨ine鈥 and Christmas cookies, a virtual stroll across a Christmas market, while making stars that beautifully reflect the light.
These are very typical Christmas decorations in Germany.
Let鈥檚 see what we are up to in the winter semester!
