Within Human Rights Advisory Services (HRAS), we offer confidential advice and information to community members on human rights issues.
HRAS Mandate
Our goal is to advance the adherence to, and understanding of, human rights obligations by providing guidance and advice to all Queen鈥檚 members.
Advisor Support and Services聽
Our advisors provide support by:

Clarifying Issues: Assisting with concerns related to human rights code-based discrimination, harassment, and accommodation.

Policy, Procedure and/or Practices Guidance: Offering information on University policies, procedures and practices related to human rights, discrimination, harassment and/or accommodation.

Referrals: Providing referrals and exploring options to address specific concerns.

Guidance for University Units: Advising academic and administrative units on implementing non-discriminatory practices and policies.
Meetings with an advisor
At our meetings you will discuss your human rights concerns with an advisor who provides guidance on your rights and responsibilities, policy insights, and help with deciding your next steps. Sometimes you may need to have multiple meetings with the advisor.
Confidentiality
We are committed to maintaining confidentiality within the HRAS team, subject to applicable university policies and legal limitations.

You have control over what happens next. Our advisors will help you understand the available options and their potential outcomes. You decide on the actions to take, including whether to initiate any complaint process.
