MUSC 319 Music Performance Lessons for Non-Concentrators 3B Units: 3.00
Regular instrumental or vocal instruction for non-concentrators with an emphasis on individualized or small group study. Students may enter into this course from a variety of backgrounds, paths, and programs.
NOTE This course is intended for students outside of the BMUS or BMT programs. Students in the BMUS or BMT programs should instead enrol in MUSC 323.

NOTE In addition to the regular tuition fee, students are charged an additional fee for private music lessons: estimated cost $800.
NOTE Students may be required to attend up to six concerts per term: estimated cost $60-$100. This can include free concerts.

Requirements: Prerequisite (MUSC 218/3.0 or MUSC 219/3.0 or MUSC 224/6.0) and permission of the School.

Course Learning Outcomes:
- Recognize and identify current repertoire of the instrument and/or performance tradition in order to have a well-rounded understanding of the field and genre at large.
- Identify, develop, and (re)produce the appropriate technique and style to create a comprehensive performance in the student鈥檚 chosen genre and instrument/voice.
- Expand, refine, and apply technique and interpretive capability in order to execute repertoire of increasing difficulty.
- Distinguish what performance elements require improvement in a students鈥� own performance, and to co-ordinate a plan for practicing and improving these skills, thereby acquiring advanced performance skills.
- Perform in public with a growing sense of competence and confidence.
