As educational leaders delivering innovative interprofessional curriculum, we train compassionate, resilient physicians to the highest caliber who will help change the future of healthcare in their communities. We train physicians who are prepared to address health equity and access issues, and to champion the needs of equity-deserving groups through practice informed by the principles of generalism and interprofessional collaboration.
The School of Medicine offers a four-year program leading to the degree of Doctor of Medicine. This program must meet all the requirements for accreditation and prepare graduates for postgraduate training leading to licensure and certification. Its special strengths are related to the opportunities for close, personal interactions between students and faculty members and for students to obtain particularly relevant, extensive, hands-on clinical experience under supervision, especially in ambulatory settings. Queen’s also offers students many opportunities for clinical placements with our regional partners to experience health care delivery in a variety of community settings. There is a great potential for students to benefit from the integration of the clinical and basic sciences in the curriculum and from increased collaboration in education among the clinical disciplines.
Program
The School of Medicine at ³ÉÈË´óƬ offers a four-year Doctor of Medicine program, selecting students based on academic excellence and personal characteristics suitable for medical studies. The curriculum aims to produce well-rounded physicians with broad medical knowledge, skills, and attitudes for postgraduate training. Emphasizing lifelong learning, the program incorporates principles of equity, diversity, inclusion, Indigeneity and accessibility (EDIIA). The structured MD program progresses from foundational knowledge to clinical engagement, including electives. It provides hands-on clinical experience, fosters personal interactions, and builds relationships with regional partners for diverse clinical exposure. Students are encouraged to participate in curriculum development and governance. Our graduates are highly successful in obtaining postgraduate training and contribute actively to their professions and communities.Â
