The Chancellor
Shelagh Rogers
Shelagh Rogers is a veteran broadcast-journalist who made a home at CBC Radio for 43 years. For the last 15 of those, she was host and co-producer of The Next Chapter, an award-winning program devoted to writing in Canada. In June of 2023, she stepped down from CBC Radio to pursue other adventures of her own devising.
Shelagh grew up in the territory of the Algonquin and Anishnaabe, Ottawa, Ontario. She attended Queen鈥檚 University to study Art History and graduated in 1977. While in Kingston, she made close friends and launched a long career in broadcasting that has its beginnings at CFRC, the 成人大片 community radio station.
In 1980, she joined CBC Radio in Ottawa to host local current affairs shows and national classical music programs. In 1984, she moved to CBC Toronto and hosted such programs as Metro Morning, The Arts Tonight and On Stage at Glenn Gould Studio. Over the years as a journalist on such flagship daily programs as Morningside, Sounds Like Canada and This Morning, Shelagh traveled the length and breadth of this country, interviewing thousands of people and collecting their stories. That's her passion because, she fully believes, sharing our stories enlarges our understanding of, and empathy for, each other.
Shelagh left the daily radio in 2008 to develop other projects and to be able to speak freely about issues that concern her. She became an ardent activist for better mental health care for all, but especially youth. That year, she received a Transforming Lives Award from CAM-H.
In September 2011, Shelagh was named an Officer of the Order of Canada, the country's highest civilian honour, for her volunteer work in adult literacy, for fighting against the stigma of mental illness, and for advocating for truth, healing and reconciliation. She is honoured and humbled to have been inducted as an Honorary Witness to the testimonies of residential school Survivors and their families, shared at the national gatherings of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada.
In 2014, Queen鈥檚 University recognized her advocacy by presenting her with their Alumni Humanitarian Award. She was named the inaugural recipient of the Margaret Trudeau Award for Mental Health Advocacy in 2016. In 2019, Library and Archives Canada acknowledged Shelagh鈥檚 contribution to the literary life of this country by selecting her as one of the inaugural Library and Archives Canada Scholars.
Shelagh holds eight honorary doctorates from Canadian universities, including Queen鈥檚 University and is Chancellor Emerita of the University of Victoria, a position she held (and loved) for seven years. UVic Library named Shelagh an Honorary Librarian. In 2022, Shelagh was named the Symons Medallist, which recognizes an individual who has made an exceptional contribution to Canadian life.

Patrick Deane
Patrick Deane became the 21st Principal and Vice-Chancellor of Queen鈥檚 University on July 1, 2019. He is the former President and Vice-Chancellor of McMaster University, a position he held for nine years. Prior to that he served as Provost and Vice-President (Academic) at Queen鈥檚 and also held a number of academic administrative appointments at Western University and the University of Winnipeg. Dr. Deane is a Professor of English Literature, with his principal research focus being the relationship between cultural production and British politics in the first half of the Twentieth Century. He read English and Law at the University of Witwatersrand, South Africa, before undertaking graduate studies and receiving both an M.A. and a Ph.D. in English Literature from Western University. Dr. Deane was the first recipient of the John Charles Polanyi Prize for Literature in 1988.

Allison Williams - QUAA Appointee
Allison Williams, Artsci鈥09, is a practicing lawyer at one of the province of Ontario's specialty community legal clinics, Justice for Children and Youth (JFCY). Originally from small-town Northwestern Ontario, Allison threw herself into student life while attending Queen鈥檚. She obtained an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Political Studies with a minor in Women's Studies (2009); however is most proud of being honoured with the Agnes Benidickson Tricolour Award upon convocation for her distinguished service to the University in non-academic extracurricular activities. Allison went on to obtain her Masters of Arts from the University of Toronto (2011), before getting her Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall Law School (2015). Allison was called to the Ontario bar in 2016. Prior to taking up the QUAA President's role, Allison served for four years as the QUAA Board's Director of Giving, promoting alumni philanthropy and giving through Queen's.

Tazrian Alam
Tazrian is Senior Manager at Royal Bank of Canada鈥檚 (RBC) Financial Crime Team where she leads and manages quarterly reports to RBC鈥檚 Board of Directors and Risk Committees. She is a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist and a graduate of the Queen鈥檚 University (BAH鈥13, PolSci) and University of Western Ontario (MA鈥14, International Relations ). Letitia Golubitsky
Letitia Golubitsky is an experienced professional in the banking industry who has worked for more than a decade in Capital Markets Risk Management and Enterprise Risk across four Canadian banks. Letitia is currently Senior Manager at Scotiabank. Dr. Letitia Golubitsky is a mathematician by training holding a PhD in Mathematics from Western University, a Master of Science in Mathematics from 成人大片 and a Master of Science in Financial Mathematics from McMaster University. Letitia started her career as a quantitative developer in Model Development at TD bank working on mathematical models for counterparty credit risk. She moved to a more senior role in Capital Markets Risk Management at CIBC working as a senior commodity developer for market risk and counterparty credit risk. Letitia has worked for the past six years in Model Validation at Bank of Montreal and she recently joined Scotiabank as a Senior Manager in Model Risk. Dr. Letitia Golubitsky is the Chair of the Canadian Artificial Intelligence 2022 conference leading the Industry track.
Letitia is a member of Global Risk Institute and Women in Capital Markets non profit organizations. Letitia is a lifelong advocate for cutting edge education and a strong advocate for women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Elected to the University Council Executive Committee. Don McNamee
Don McNamee (Arts'95) is a seasoned education leader whose career spans executive leadership and global consultancy. He currently serves as Director of Education Technology at Saigon South International School, and has previously held roles as Head of School in New Zealand, Chief Innovation Officer in the UAE, and Leadership Executive with Apple Inc. in Canada. At Queen鈥檚, Don was a member of the Arts鈥95 Intramural Council throughout his studies, co-chaired the University Intramural Council and is a permanent executive member of the Class of '95. He received both the ASUS and AMS Letter Award for his contributions to sport and to the City of Kingston, and was awarded the Queen鈥檚 Arts and Science Cup for his leadership in intramurals. A founding member of the New Zealand Queen鈥檚 Alumni Branch, he has participated in alumni events across Canada, Singapore, and the UK. Don holds four post-secondary degrees, including in urban economics, GIS, education, and educational leadership. Class of '90 Richmond Hill, ON, IT and Classroom Support Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy, University of Toronto. After transferring to Queen's, I studied Economics. I was an orientation leader and also involved in the Science '44 Student Housing Co-op. After Queen鈥檚 I worked for a defense contractor before starting at U of T in 2002 as a technician in the Physiology labs. Since that time, I have held a wide range of positions across campus including Libraries, Information Security, and a long stretch as Senior Network Administrator in UofT Central IT services, integrating administrative systems between the federated colleges. In 2022 I returned to my preferred role as IT support for the academic and administrative functions. Current term to 2028.

Yanique Williams
Yanique Williams is Uber鈥檚 Public Policy Manager for the Canadian Prairies and Federal Affairs. In this role, she leads national initiatives that strengthen safety across Canada鈥攆ocusing on road safety, personal safety, women鈥檚 safety, and health. She also works closely with Uber鈥檚 Product Inclusion team and serves on the company鈥檚 Fairness Working Group, helping design inclusive products that meet the needs of diverse communities and deliver positive social impact. Prior to tech, Yanique spent over eight years in Canadian politics, advancing policies on international trade, small business growth, rural development, gender equality, and gender-based violence, while advising the Government of Canada on diversity and inclusion.
