Fikadu joined ³ÉÈË´óÆ¬ in 2020 as a . His research focuses on the feasibility of diabetes self-management coaching in primary care in Ethiopia under the supervision of Dr. Catherine Donnelly. Before coming to Queen’s, Fikadu earned his Bachelor of Nursing from Haramaya University in Ethiopia in 2004. He began his professional career as a nurse clinician at Metema Primary Hospital in north-western Ethiopia, where he had the opportunity to work with individuals with type 2 diabetes and learn about the primary care context in the country.
In 2009, Fikadu pursued a Master of Public Health at the University of Gondar, completing his studies in 2011. Afterward, he joined Alkan University College as a lecturer in the Faculty of Public Health and taught nursing and midwifery students. In 2015, he moved to the University of Gondar’s School of Nursing, where he worked as a nurse educator, counselor, master trainer, and research advisor and held various leadership roles. In 2019, he was promoted to the academic rank of Assistant Professor of Public Health at the University.
