Summer 2023 - The Act of Creation

I walk down Augusta Avenue. I wonder if the girl selling poems is there today.

She is. Hers is an outdoor office on the street sidewalk. A desk, a folding chair, a perch amidst the rowdy Friday crowds frequenting the taco restaurants and loitering around to smoke. I notice right away that her teal-green typewriter looks worn. Sunburnt. It鈥檚 been through the trenches, I think. I suspect its owner is hungry, like everyone else on Augusta Avenue, but too proud to leave her post before she makes a profit 鈥
