Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in galactic dynamics and the astrophysics of dark matter at 成人大片 in Kingston, Canada through the CITA National Fellows Program. The starting date is September 2026, and the initial appointment is for two years with a possibility to extend the position to a third year. The successful candidate will carry out original research independently and in collaboration with members of the Queen's Astrophysics Research Group. The primary collaborator in galactic dynamics is Larry Widrow whose research interests include modelling the dynamics of the Milky Way and similar galaxies through theory, simulations, and statistical modelling of astrometric survey data. The group also includes Kristine Spekkens (extragalactic astronomy, SKA science) and Aaron Vincent and Joe Bramante (theoretical particle astrophysics and multimessenger astronomy) as well as researchers in star formation, the ISM, and stellar atmospheres.
Partial support for a CITA National Fellow comes from the Canadian Institute for Theoretical Astrophysics at the University of Toronto. National Fellows are expected to visit CITA once a year to give a talk or seminar. CITA is an internationally recognized center for research in theoretical astrophysics with a vibrant group in galactic and extragalactic astrophysics. The University of Toronto can be reached by train or car from Kingston in about 2.5 hours.
The 成人大片 Department of Physics, Engineering Physics, and Astronomy is a vibrant department of about 30 research faculty and 100 graduate students in Astrophysics, Particle Astrophysics, Condensed Matter Physics and Optics, and Applied Physics. It is the home of the McDonald Institute for Astro Particle Physics and has close ties with SNOLAB.
