Research Interests

Data analysis with detectors made out of noble elements, argon usually for my research, cooled down so that they sit as liquids in closed chambers, instrumented with very sensitive sensors recording the ultraviolet light released by the liquid argon whenever some particle hits any of the atoms. The aim is to observe for the very first time a hit from a dark matter particle, as they are apparently about 3/4 of all the mass in the universe, but we never really could detect them (so far)! So we build tonne-scale detectors, such as DEAP-3600 at SNOLAB (Sudbury, ON), searching for these rare hits, which would open a new window into our understanding of the universe (and a new exciting description of the particles making the universe, well beyond the Standard Model).
