Queen鈥檚 Partnerships and Innovation is pleased to report the issuance of U.S. Patent No. 12,416,577 "Sensor Elements Having Metallic Nanostructures and Uses Thereof" on September 16, 2025 to Joshua Raveendran, Hannah Bacon, Carlos Escobedo, and Aristides Docoslis. The patent relates to sensor elements having metallic nanostructures, to methods for forming metallic nanostructures using microelectrodes, and to uses of such sensor elements in sensing applications such as surfacing-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS), in surface plasmon resonance (SPR) or localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) platforms, and electrical-based chemical, biochemical, and biological sensing.
