In this CoP we will discuss grassroots and community-led research initiatives initiated and led by and for community. Guest facilitators will introduce this topic by sharing the story of the Alianza Latina initiative, a national grassroots coalition, and their community-led Canadian National Latino Community Survey. We will hear the lessons learned within this project, and CoP participants will discuss the challenges, tensions, and opportunities of research initiated from the ground-up and led by communities with the intention of using data for advocacy. This will include discussion of how to maintain community trust while collecting high-stakes data and how to ensure the findings remain accessible and useful to the people who provided them.
