Carrying Grief Quietly: Caregiving Through Organ Donation and Transplant, and Returning to Work
Join us for an honest and compassionate discussion about caregiving through organ donation and transplant, including the challenges of stepping away from work and returning while managing unseen grief. This conversation will highlight the emotional and practical aspects of caregiving in the workplace.
Guest Speakers:
Silvia Fernandez is an Academic Compensation Specialist in the Faculty Relations Office, providing support to the Office of the Provost. A parent of two and a living kidney donor, she navigated the caregiving experience supporting her husband through his journey from dialysis to kidney transplant. She cares deeply for those advocating for career development while being flexible to support family health matters. She is an active participant in the Queen's Parent and Caregiving Village.
Members of Queen’s Human Resources will share helpful information on leave options and workplace supports that can assist employees in balancing work and caregiving needs. They will offer guidance on returning to and staying at work during caregiving journeys.
