This conversation will highlight the development of Black Studies at Queen鈥檚 University. The discussion will highlight the field's history and ongoing focus on interdisciplinarity and freedom-making, while also attending to how activities, rather than simply the enumeration of Black people, sustain our work at Queen鈥檚 and elsewhere.

This presentation is part of a three-part "Re-Imagining Academia Speaker Series, organized by the Human Rights and Equity Office at 成人大片. The series is designed to highlight critical themes in Indigenization, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Accessibility, and Anti-Racism (I-EDIAA), focusing on their application in Canadian higher education. The series will explore issues such as decolonizing institutional practices, amplifying underrepresented voices, embedding anti-racist frameworks in research and leadership, and re-imagining accessibility across academia.
