Shadowlands/I Felt I'd Been Here Before. International photographer Zadoc Nava exhibits his photographic series Shadowlands, shot on the streets of Tehran, alongside his short film House of Strength, which offers a rare glimpse into the hidden world of Persian martial arts. In I Felt I'd Been Here Before, filmmaker and choreographer Colin Gee explores how memory is held in architecture by responding to a selection of photographs drawn from the Belfast Exposed Photography archive. Morphing basket weave, a self-contained laundry and an oversized charm bracelet are just some of the works from the third and final Jerwood Contemporary Makers exhibition which brings together 29 emerging designers and makers who have been selected by Hans Stofer, Richard Slee and Freddie Robins – three of the most inventive names in the visual arts. As part of August Craft Month 2010 OBG is exhibiting in partnership with Craft NI a showcase of the ceramic work by Jack Doherty, an energetic and key figure in British ceramics. As part of the exhibition our ever diverse and hands on education programme will explore practices in craft making and ceramics with ceramics workshops. Arrivals is a new exhibition promoting emerging artists from Northern Ireland. It offers an insight into the young contemporary visual art scene and celebrates the spontaneity and experimentation that is associated with the early stages of an artist’s career. An exhibition showcasing the work of Dublin based artists Adrian Duncan and Fiona Marron, as part of an ongoing exchange between Catalyst Arts (Belfast) and The Joinery Gallery (Dublin). . The ‘West Belfast Arts Society’ has been running for more than 20 years and now has a membership of over 60 people. The amateur artists attend different weekly classes and work in different mediums. This exhibition will showcase recent work of the Society’s members and will feature a wide range of both medium and subject matter. From Sept 2-4. An exhibition examining a series of Belfast city spaces, to reveal the underlying tensions between development, use, history and ownership. There are particular places within Belfast city that sit at the interface between the old and the new. These spaces hold tensions which challenge citizens to associate with new ideas and identities or with heritage and established thinking. From Aug 5- Sept 2. The exhibition explores clay as a material – historically, culturally and physically – a material so instantly visceral in its reaction to touch, manipulation and application from domestic vessel to the architectural. Exhibition of prints from the Fenderesky Gallery collection produced over the years when the workshop was located at Riddel Hall by artists Diarmuid Delargy, Micky Donnolly, David Crone and Felim Egan from the collection of Fenderesky Gallery. David Crone has also been invited by BPW to do a one week residency and the work produced from this will be on exhibition. From Sept 2 to Oct 11. Tel: 028 9023 1323  this, then - Locky Morris/Carnival Mash-ups. this then is an exhibition of works by Derry-based artist Locky Morris. The exhibition sets out to examine aspects of the underlying themes and formal motifs in Morris's practice during a period spanning three decades. This new set of video and photographic works considers the Halloween carnival in Derry as a crack in the foundation of everyday society. Through this fissure erupt alternative histories, temporalities and narratives. this, then runs until Sept 18 and Carnival Mashup runs from Sept 2-21. An exhibition by Ian Fleming introducing the start date of the xChangeVisions collaborative arts project that will involve the creation of artworks in 144 locations across Britain and Ireland to celebrate the birth, life and death of human beings who have touched our lives.
