Run by East Belfast Arts Collective, this Gallery has moved from its original location in a mill Engine Room to a street-level showroom just a little further east on the Newtownards Road. Since its inception in the mid 1990s it has been, literally and metaphorically, an engine at the core of the development of contemporary art in Belfast. Its range includes everything from oils and acrylics to prints, video, sculpture, arte povere, installation art and new technology. It is driven by a desire to intersperse the work of local artists who have gained more than local critical acclaim with that of those who’ve established international reputations after moving and practising abroad. Exhibitions change each month.
