Waring Street made its first contribution to the city’s cultural archive when Jane Waring, then resident at what’s now No 30 - and addressed by her suitor as Varina - refused the great satirist Dean Jonathan Swift’s offer of marriage.
Now, three centuries later, No 30 continues to be a key contributor to the continuance of the historic Cathedral Quarter. Since its move from the city’s other cultural oasis - the Queen’s Quarter - Belfast Print Workshop provides state-of-the-art facilities for artists working in printmaking, from etching and lithography to relief and screen printing.
Downstairs, on the ground floor of its renovated bonded warehouse, the BPW Gallery hangs work by workshop members as well as that of its printmakers-in-residence and other leading artists working in these disciplines.
